Sock Monkeys
When I was growing up, my most prized possession was my sock monkey. It was given to me by my uncle when I was around 5 or 6. I still have it, to this day. It is a little worse for the wear, but that just means I literally hugged the stuffing out of it when I was a child!  As a child it was an awesome gift to receive.  There is something about a sock monkey that is warm and comforting - it is a symbol of days gone by that were  simpler.  That is what I still love about them because when it comes right down to it, kids still like the simplest toys - and often the box they came in rather than the toy for that matter.  I am still looking for true, authentic sock monkeys to carry in The Surprise Inside.  I have found, however, what I consider to be a FABULOUS modern day counterpart to the sock monkey, and they are called Bla Blas.  They are hand-knit in Peru, are incredibly soft and huggable, and come in absolutely ADORABLE styles and colors. My children love them like I loved my sock monkey.  That is why I like them - it is a gift with potentially lasting impact.
